Strange World
12" x 18" Strange World, Watercolor on paper. I painted this on a beach during a Thanksgiving alone on a beach in Los Angeles. I am not a West coast person, hence the darkness and flight.
The Deluge
18" x 24"
Oil on canvas. I have been obsessed with floods since childhood. I grew up in Texas and our farm would flood regularly and I loved walking through flood waters and seeing fish where my yard used to be. To this day I am still interested in floods but more in a biblical/ spiritual sense. A magazine from Brazil saw this and paid me to use it in their magazine to illustrate and article about their countries massive floods.
Lost Souls (purgatory)
20" x 20" Oil on canvas: I did a long series of paintings based on the idea of Purgatory and those people frozen in this eternal place. I spend a lot of time thinking of what happens after we pass but I do believe that people can get "stuck" and perhaps this explains ghosts. These paintings sold well and I never thought I would sell a single one as they were too strange and dark.
